1. Process Art Bubble Painting - Fish
Materials Required: Poster colors, White construction paper, straw, shampoo, water, muffin tray or any container
Method: Bubble Painting is an amazing process art. Every child loves to blow a bubble. Bubble painting technique is all about blowing bubbles with the help of a straw in a container and taking the impression of it on your paper. It is fun, engaging and creative process art.
- The first step to begin the bubble painting is to pour a drop of your favorite color in a muffin tray or any bowl or container.
- Then add a bit of shampoo and a small amount of water to blow bubbles.
- Mix the content of the container using the straw or a spoon.
- Once it is mixed, with the help of a straw, blow out bubbles in the container.
- Once you start blowing, you will see foam of bubble start appearing on the surface.
- As soon as it is done, take your construction paper and place it on the container to take the impression of the bubbles.
- You will see an amazing pattern on the paper.
- You can create flowers or bugs, or any object that you can imagine.
- You can also simply do this on the paper just to see the different paper texture and pattern.
- Similarly, repeat the same with a different color combination and keep placing the paper to take the impression.
- In order to create the below Bubble Painting of Fish, I have first taken the impression of the bubbles in different colors.
- After that, on the backside, I drew different fish and cut it out.
- For the water background, I used Blue color and then pasted the fish cut out.

Method: Have you thought of the many usages of a simple straw? Yes, a straw has so many uses. One of them being used for a painting technique called blow painting. Blow painting is a fun and engaging activity for a toddler or a preschool kid. What you will need here is patience. Sometimes you will see that the kids are not able to blow the painting. So as a teacher or as parents, you can help them either to blow the color drop or even how to use the dropper to take the paint. Let us see how to do Blow Painting with straw.
- Before we begin, please ensure close supervision on your child while doing this activity and take proper care while the child is doing the activity.
- Blow painting can be done as an abstract art or combined with some favorite animal or bird or anything that the child likes. However, if the teacher wishes, this activity can be done during Monsoon, where the object could be an Umbrella and the kids use blow painting to depict it as the rain shower.
- The process of blow painting needs hand and mouth coordination.
- The first step is to pour color of your choice with a liquid consistency in a small container, where you can insert the ink dropper. If you don't have ink dropper, it is completely fine, you can use the any paintbrush or the straw itself that can form a drop after dipping in the color.
- Use muffin trays or small bowls where you can mix the color with water.
- With the help of an ink dropper, take some amount of color and place a small little drop on the white construction paper.
- Now put the straw in your mouth and start blowing the drop till it reaches the end. Keep doing this till you get your required pattern.
- Keep placing the color drop as you imagine your pattern to be.
- For abstract painting, the kids can use a different combination of colors and blow the color in any direction they like.
- Blow painting can be a wonderful art for celebrating the festival of colors, i.e. Holi.
- In order to create the below Blow Painting of Jellyfish, I have first created the body of the Jellyfish with a pencil and colored it with a poster color.
- To make the tentacles, I placed a drop of color from the ink dropper and blew it with the straw in different directions.
- I continued doing so for all the Jellyfish.
- For the background, I have colored in Blue with the help of pencil colors.

3. Painting with Cotton Dabbing - Doll
Materials Required: Poster colors, White construction paper, cotton balls, color palette or tray
Method: Cotton dabbing is one of the easiest ways to begin a preschooler's painting. Instead of using a paintbrush, they can simply use cotton balls as their tool to create little artistic paintings.
- All they have to do is, pour color in a palette.
- Dip the cotton balls and press it on the white construction paper to take the impression.
- Keep doing this till the art is done.
- This art can be done in freestyle or any theme based object created using a template.
- The picture of an object can be created beforehand, the kids simply need to paint it using the technique of cotton dabbing.
- In order to create the below art work, I have first hand drawn it using a pencil.
- You can use stencil or silhouette of an animal or cartoon character.
- After drawing, I have used small cotton balls dipped in color of my choice, in this case, neon pink.
- I have then dabbed the cotton in a pattern for the gown.
- Similarly, I finished the entire painting with cotton dabbing.
- Areas that were small in size like the hands, face, hair, I simply painted it using a paintbrush.

4. Process Art Activities with Sponge For Toddlers
Materials Required: Poster colors, White construction paper, sponge, color palette or tray
Method: Any toddler or preschooler can begin painting with simple tools like a sponge.
- The easiest way to carry out sponge painting is to first cut out the sponge in different shapes, like star, square, round etc.
- Think of any object that you want to paint on the construction paper. It could be theme based on fruits, vegetables, animals or any cartoon character.
- If there is a cut out of the sponge, all you need to do is dab the sponge in color and take the impression on the paper. The shape of the sponge effect will look artistic.
- To simply put, the teacher needs to pour color in a plate to dip the sponge. It should be big enough to hold the sponge.
- The children have to later press it on the paper to take down the impression.
- In case if you don't have any shape cut, you can always first create the object on the paper using a template or hand drawn. The kids then have to simply keep dabbing the dipped sponge on the paper.
- In order to create the below Sponge Painting - Boat, I have first created the outline of the sailboat with a little background of bushes and trees.
- Then using the sponge, I have dabbed it in the paint and took an impression of it on the boat itself.
- I have used a different combination of colors like dark blue and light for the water effect, similarly for the boat and its sailing cloth.
- Once sponge dabbing is done, I have outlined it with a color marker to make it look effective.
- My Sponge Painting Boat is ready to sail now.
